Mesmerizing and Magical
By Fire and Ice
It's been a while given we have been totally swept divided into a universe of a book, though Shades of Atlantis carried me divided and left me there. Author Carol Oates reawakened my artistic suggestion and enterprise to learn about Celtic parable and lore. With usually a month left of 2010 and over 115 titles reviewed, her book simply slides onto my list of favorite reads this year.
The story starts with categorical heroine, red haired Alitriona Pryor, a unchanging high propagandize tyro flourishing adult in Camden, Maine. Raised by her aunt and uncle after a comfortless genocide of her parents, she and her hermit Ben find themselves pitched into a conflict involving family secrets and dark destinies. Triona starts work during a internal strand grill where she meets her new trainer Caleb Wallace and immediately they both feel an captivate that is magnetic. The chemistry between a dual of them shortly proves to be dangerous. Caleb believes in Platos' judgment of essence mates, dual halves that make a whole. Soon he starts to open adult to Triona with tales of an ancient sword, magic, dark civilizations and a means people. Are they all tales from his childhood or is there some law to his stories?
Readers transport to a plateau of Maine, Clerkenwell London, Oxford, Dublin and ancient Tara, Ireland in hunt of a truth. Breathtaking view and internal fable done a book clear and alive. The author combines faery science with Celtic story and adds a lurch of Arthurian fable to Atlantis.
Her characters are all good grown and we brave contend we will tumble in venerate with both categorical heroes Caleb and John for a strengths they move into Triona's life. Once we collect adult Shades of Atlantis you'll wish to carve out adequate time to examination it wholly since there is no branch back. we stayed adult late into a night and woke adult early a subsequent morning entranced. My usually reservation was that during times there are similarities to Stephenie Meyer's Twilight series, though with adequate of a spin to make this book mount alone as singular and powerful. Even a Epilogue was amazing! Each page good crafted and captivating. Congratulations to Carol Oates for an implausible debut. Shades of Atlantis is all together hypnotizing and magical.
Readers might also suffer The Mark by Marilyn Bunderson or The Books of Faerie by Maggie Stiefvater. we would suggest this book for readers 16 and comparison as it does enclose some passionate calm and violence.

A bit disappointed...
By Kristen M. Harvey
Why we examination this: When we examination about this book, it irritated my interest. we was extraordinary to see what form of paranormals this book would hold.
Plot: we have to be honest, we did not like a initial half of this book. The reason is that I'm removing ill of a formulaic venerate seductiveness in paranormal YA novels. we struggled by a initial half and happily found a second some-more full of movement and credentials information including some engaging mythology. we devoured a second half of a book and it saved me from giving adult totally on it.
Characters: They were okay. Regular lovey teenagers spin paranormal. I'm astounded there weren't some-more hints during a abnormal aspects until closer to a center of a novel.
Relatability: Fans who venerate a Evermore array will venerate this novel.
Cover Commentary: So-so, don't venerate it, don't hatred it.

Pretty many a 3.5 for me
By Terry J. Martin
This is a 3.5 for me after looking during a books we have given 4 stars to. The storyline is unequivocally good and different. It was unequivocally shining that a author gives a reader a brief dual page prologue where it tells of a baby lady innate in a cavern with a conflict distracted outward with a sounds of swords clanging. The baby is handed to a watchful male by a midwife who is a mother's sister. The midwife hands him a leather firm parcel and they contend their good-byes, apparently caring deeply for any other. When asked where he will take a baby, he answers, "I usually know who waits to take her from me, not of her journey's end."
This prologue is critical to a reading of a book, since a book starts in benefaction time and is told in a initial chairman by Triona, a high propagandize comparison who works during a grill partial time. Triona has hardly met a third of a brothers, Caleb, who possess a restaurant. She is unequivocally captivated to him and her best crony Amanda teases her about it. we privately in books am not genuine lustful of a "instant attraction" and a suspicion of being deeply in venerate before a integrate even knows any other, and this was a obstacle to me for this book. From this indicate for distant too many pages, it flattering many goes on to a good understanding of erotic kissing and losing themselves in any other (no genuine sex and it is not striking - we would cruise a book YA). we have examination some other books that IMO make a mistake of carrying too many scenes like this and too mostly regulating a same phrases over and over - a bit too many of blast heartbeats and such. There is of march a poser about Caleb, and while Triona is uneasy about a secrets he apparently is gripping from her, a reader is perplexing to confirm only what Caleb unequivocally is. we won't do a spoiler on that since we jumped from one suspicion to another and we consider that was a fun partial of a book - a poser of what is unequivocally going on.
The final third or so of a book was a best part, though somehow it never unequivocally drew me in like we had hoped it would. The grounds of what Caleb and his family unequivocally are and a tie to a prologue (which we went behind and examination substantially a dozen times to get clues) are unequivocally a many engaging partial of a book. For me it only took too prolonged to get there. There are some other good characters in a book nonetheless we suspicion they were a tiny deceptive (except Amanda) even Triona's brother, Ben didn't unequivocally come to life for me until tighten to a end. Good story though substantially would have been improved with a lot reduction pages. It's 307 pages though another disastrous for me - tiny print. Also On shopping
